If you read an article about Edwards, the presidential candidates or current issues that Edwards has  a strong position on – share your opinion!

Letters to the Editor are one of the most read sections of a newspaper and reach a big audience. Small newspapers are more likely to print your letter.

Find the Editorial Contact for your local or favorite paper on the right.  Follow their news stories and the positions they take.  Express your opinion and submit your Letter to the Editor.

Letter to the Editor Writing Tips:
Here are some ideas to get you started.  If you get something published, let us know at LA4Edwards@gamail.com.

          • Always include your name, address and a phone number.  The papers will only publish your name and city.
          • Letters that are short and to the point stand a better chance of getting printed. Limit letters to 100 - 150 words.
          • Reference the specific article that you are responding to – refer to the title of the article or use a quote from the article.
          • Highlight aspects of the issue that haven’t been already addressed.  This is a good way to discuss a policy or plan of John Edwards.

          Letter to the Editor Example:
Here is a great editorial that was published in the Los Angeles Times by Susie from the John Edwards Los Angeles, 30th Congressional District group in response to an unfair article on Edwards' populist platform:

          L.A. Times
          June 3, 2007
          Letter to the Editor

Before Edwards came on the presidential scene, the word "poverty" had nearly disappeared from the political lexicon.

Edwards should be commended for his work on poverty. What Goldberg doesn't say is that Edwards helped repair the homes of low-income survivors of Hurricane Katrina, recently spent the day with low-wage income earners and is the only candidate with a plan for ending poverty.

Those of us who work on poverty issues every day are thankful for all the help we can get, regardless of the socioeconomic status of our champions.
